Let Your Light Shine!!

It's Wednesday- we're halfway there and here in the US it's a long weekend- yippee!!

This card is for the Verve Diva Dare challenge- to use Stars and Stripes with an extra twist {if you're courageous!!} of making a CAS card. Well, the CAS has stressed my brain a titch too much lately....

I pulled out a couple "oldies but goodies" to make this card. The stars are from Verve's Seeing Stars and the sentiment is from Starstruck. Sentiment was stamped on a Verve Banner Bundle die. I used SB star dies {the two larger images don't fit the die perfectly but, I liked the offset look}. Papers are Authentique Glory. Yes, I went traditional here with the colors!!

I used Charmaine's week 3 Viva la Verve sketch....

I {heart} you- US!!

Yes, I'm still trying to accomplish this CAS thing!! I have to tell you- it's not easy for me but, definitely takes me "out of the box" and that's a good thing, right???? I am always so amazed when I visit blogs/bloggers that do CAS so perfectly- so balanced- every element counts.

So, on my journey struggle, I made this card...

I was CASEing Maile Belles card for this week's CASE study challenge but, I wanted to add color with the sentiment and embellies rather than the background stamping. I'm thinking this is the most "white" space (in this case it's actually vanilla/ivory) that I have ever left on a card AND... don't ask me how long it took and how much stamping to find a background stamp that I thought would work---remember scrap paper-it's cheaper, LOL!! Not exactly a one layer card but, the closest I have ever come!!

Maile's card...

Normally, I wish (Hope) for a wonderful week... that's hard to do today after watching/seeing all the news on the devastating tornado in Oklahoma. I grew up in northwest Indiana and Illinois. As a very young child I remember every house we moved to-- always being taught (over and over and over until we had it down) where to go and what to do for tornadoes/ bad storms/when skies turn black...I was on the phone with my sis yesterday (she's in Indiana) and she didn't know what was going on and we were talking about it-- I kept saying "Lisa, it's not hitting and popping back up/dissipating. It's not going away. It's big and staying on the ground." Anywho... I think many lives were saved because people knew/understood what to do or where to go based on awareness, which breeds instinct. It's a miracle there weren't more lives lost.

Sorry, it's close to home. Actually, I've been home in the last year visiting when a "tiny" tornado hit and it made me nervous... brought back all the lessons I learned from my mom and dad---think.... what's potentially safe and what isn't---can't imagine.

you're so yummy!

Happy Sunday afternoon. It's a rainy day here so perfect for stamping! Although maybe not so good for photography (even with ott lights).

Pulled out Waltzingmouse Stamps Big Berries-Strawberries. Stamped the berry onto whisper white cardstock and fussy cut- the stem was stamped onto patterned paper but, I added a little shading with copics. This was popped on top of a circle nestie. Added some flag banners using MFT Flag Stax and a few brads in the corner. Sentiment is from the same WMS set.

Used the colors from this week's Color Throwdown challenge of real red, daffodil delight, kiwi kiss, and tempting turquoise. The sketch is Jen's Deconstructed sketch.

WMS BLog Party!!

This month the WMS Blog Party is all about Teacher Appreciation... it's the end of school...or close anywho... spring has sprung and summer is just days away....

Now, my girls are all grown up but, there were many... many.... teachers along the way that I LOVED!! When I visited (quite often- picking up, B-Days, Teacher conferences. volunteering... school trips.... etc. etc.)- they KNEW my girls!! Maybe not quite as intimately as I did but... ohhhh-- they "had their number"--- knew how to "call them on something"- ya' know what I'm saying!- and at the same time encouraged their individual uniqueness!!

Here's my contribution....

I've been ogling some notecard sets out in blog land and decided to create my own for the blog party. Did some resist embossing and sponging with distress inks. Love the font on these sentiments. The card holder was created with coordinating colors... just cut 1/4 inch larger on all sides, scored with my ScorPal, adhered with sticky tape, added some coordinating papers, button, and twine on the front. Tucked the cards inside.

Couple pics of the notecards...

Side of panel was stamped with an image from Chicken Wire or Text It in Adirondack Slate. Flowers (Vintage Garden Seed Packet and Vintage Garden Flowers) were stamped with WPlus9 white ink and heat embossed with clear. Sponged various distress inks to loosely color the stems and flowers. Finished with sentiments from Vintage Garden Seed Packet and Camellia. Papers are Simple Stories Vintage Bliss.

Here's the link to WMS- there are lots of goodies!!
