Happy Belated Holiday and Many Blessings!!

Had a wonderful Holiday... my dad came home from the hospital after some emergency surgery last Wednesday!!!! We were blessed that although, his gallbladder was "dead" he was able to have laparascopic surgery--much easier on the body than an "open abdominal" sugery and with a little pneumonia on top -so much easier for the coughing and deep breathing!! He's still fighing the infection and moving slower than most people who have laparascopic surgery but, doing well!!

Last weekend I was playing with some new Verve stamps and Websters Pages papers. This card is for the weekly Verve sketch challenges on SCS- Amber is taking a break and the other Divas are providing the sketchs. This is Sankiri's. The theme is winter holidays/decor... now, when you see the colors you may wonder what I was thinking... well, I wasn't at the time, hehehe!! Just playing with new stuff...I'm sure you have done that before, KWIM!! BUT- I think that the holidays are a time for us to reflect on our "Many Blessings"!! I have much to be thankful for myself- family, friends, health, and I wish "Many Blessings" on everyone!!

Happy Holidays!!

Honestly... I was blessed with something else... SNOW on Christmas!! This is the first time we have had snow on Christmas day since 1947... can you believe it??? Grew up in the Midwest and not a snow person for everyday life but, recently commented that I Loved it on Christmas... you think someone knew and helped me out????

TFL!! Appreciate when you stop by and leave comments... makes my day!!

Where there is Love there is Life!!

Quick post as things are busy around here. Sketch is from Verve's weekly challenges on SCS...messed up a little... the theme is Christmas. Well, I was playing with some Websters Pages paper and Text Objects from the new Verve release and "totally spaced" the Chrismas theme. Was going to find a Christopher Radkoff bird ornament {oriole} or something similar but, alas no time!! Text Objects has image sentiments and background sentiments to coordinate--absolutely wonderful!!

Still working on a Christmas and my dad is in the hospital in Indiana {I live in NC}... little stressful and I'm a nurse so naturally I want to be there and know what is going on. Good thing life is different from when I was younger... you know long distance free calling... okay, maybe I'm showing my age!! The surgeon is trying to wait to do surgery but, I don't think it's going to happen. Prayers for my dad, he is a wonderful person!!

It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas...

everywhere I go....!!!! Finally getting some things done... no decorations as the construction folks are coming my way {due to those rascals!!} but, I have had fun with some Xmas shopping - getting something that someone wants just by remembering a comment made- makes me feel wonderful!! We had some snow yesterday- one of those with beautiful large snowflakes--loved it!! This card is for The Cats Pajamas weekly sketch challenge, you can check it out here !! The challenge is to use any TCP Holiday Stamp. These penguins are absolutely adorable climbing all over the fireplace/mantle!!

Added crystal effects to the penquins and glitter to hats/stockings/bow. Did a little paper piecing for the rug in front of the fireplace and added some lines to the top of the mantle!!

A little Xmas spirit going on here or what??? Hope you are enjoying the holidays!!

Just Because!!

Just Because... I wanted to make this card this way!!?? Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge this week is old olive, certainly celery, chocolate chip, real red, and whisper white. Inspiration pic was Xmassy but, I really wanted to use these Waltzingmouse stamps that coordinate with nestabilites and as the card progressed- this is the Verve sentment I used from one of my fav sets Great Friend. Tried different embossing folders on the red panel but, didn't like anything so I left it plain. Used the MFT large scallop die-namic on some twill and added a chocolate chip ribbon that was folded and sewn. Old Olive panel is embossed with a Quikkutz embossing folder that I absolutely adore!! Haven't perfected the twill and dies.... Used Karen's Sweet Sunday sketch.

The sketch and colors...

TFL!!

Hope you are having wonderful holidays!! After my "glitch" with the thieves- we are starting to get straightened out-- have caught up with Xmas with on-line shopping {totally addicted but, I was before- ask my DH about the deliveries-no, don't ask!! LOL!!} and did some shopping yesterday with my youngest daughter!! She turned "18" yesterday and wanted to spend the day with her mom??? Went for haircuts, lunch, and shopping!! She gave me a "high five" that it was a wonderful day-- made my heart sing!!

Stamps: Verve Great Friends and WMS Holiday Label 14

Snow Day!!

I grew up in the Midwest but, moved to the South many years ago... yes, to get away from the cold and snow!! No snow here but, cold right now {for us anway}... my sis tells me I'm being a little wimpy!! Made a card for the MFT weekly stamp club challenge which was Winter Wonderland. I confess, when I go home for Xmas and it snows while I'm there, I LOVE it!! Just don't want to deal with it on a daily basis... maybe that's where the "wimpy" comes in??? This Pure Innocence stamp set from MFT reminds of those "snow days"... you know, when you send the kids out several times and they go through all the mittens, hats, pants on hand and you set them out over the heater/in front of the fire to warm up/thaw out so they can go out again!!

Not normally a purple person but, I have been able to work with this Mitten Weather dp by Cosmo Cricket!! Added glitter to the hat, snowballs, and scarf fringes--IRL it's sparkly!! Hope you are enjoying the holidays and if you have snow are able to "play a little" in it!!

A MOJO Sweet Season

MOJO Monday on time!! Have been playing but, a little late most days!! Maybe I'm back in the swing of things...we'll see how long that last since I still have Xmas shopping to do!! I know... I need to get on the ball!! Used some gorgeous dp from Websters Pages that I have had for a while. Added snowflakes from Verve's Glad Tidings. Love these snowflakes! Behind the snowflakes is a piece of muslin that I pulled the threads from and netting from Websters Pages, pearl in the center and pearl bling. Distressed edges curled a corner. Bright pink ribbon to finish it off.

Close up of the fabulous netting, muslin, pearls...

TFL!! Hope you are having wonderful holidays!!

I'm baackkk!!

Now, that may not be immensely important to ya'all but, I'm happy not to be dealing with difficult issues!! Worked on this card last weekend and was done early in the week but, life has a habit of getting in the way.... or maybe I just have bad luck. Live on a corner lot that is fairly secluded... and someone(s) did a B & E last week {do I sound like I understand this stuff, LOL}!! We have a security system and worked well--only made it into the living room {the police were on their way before I even got the call it had happened!!}. All the Xmas presents were at my daughters so, they just got a few things {like a big plasma TV, Wii, computerized telescope etc.} and did some damage to the walls and back door. I say "some" but, honestly my DH had exellent deadbolts/security and they had to kick the back door enough to tear up the frame/studs etc. on the inside--we have found out a few days of construction will fix everything. Didn't tear up some antiques and that was good... not replaceable.

Anyway... enough of the whining. Card is using Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge to use always artichoke, basic gray, real red, and white. Sketch is Lynda's from the weekly challenges in the Verve forum on SCS and inspiration is Xmas!!

The colors--

Curtain Call Color Challenge and MOJO X 2 !!

Curtain Call Color Challenge 58 to use crumbcake, basic gray, white, concord grape, black. Again, I only have the in-color ribbon so I decided to make it work!! Used  MOJO Monday sketch challenge 166 from a week ago. Just recently received the SU textile texturz embossing folder and had to use it on the crumbcake panel. The white panel is embossed with Quikkutz dots. Concord grape ribbon was basted down the middle, scrunched, and adhered to another layer of the ribbon. Added a couple stick pins. Leaves and sentiment are from Verve's Great Friends set {one of my favs}!!

The sketch and colors:

My card...

Yes, I SAID times 2!! Holidays and unexpected company slowed me down a little!!

Stacey's curtain call color challenge 57 (2 saturdays ago) used the colors cajun craze, turqoise, chocolate chip, basic gray, and white. Laid out the card and just needed to make the bow and adhere it all but, Thanksgiving and company came!! Used the MOJO Monday sketch 165 (2 Mondays ago also).

A Vervey Enjoy Your Day!!

Last card for the weekly sketch/inspiration challenges on the Verve SCS forum. Pretty straightforward- sentiment stamped in teal onto a square that was stamped with pink pirouette leaves. Popped on top of the oval and vertical panels. Added some baubles and ribbon. DP is retired from SU and is glittery but, I'm back to using the lightbox {work during the day} and doesn't show up.

Inspiration pic was from Bath & Body works {need to stop by for stocking gifts for my two DD's and future GD}.

Verve Week 3 and 4.... Catching Up!!

Verve weekly challenges on SCS- "no time, no time, ain't, ain't, ain't got no time"--- that is to add the sketches!! Really behind on challenges and cards right now. Don't tell my DDs that I used the word "ain't"- absolutely not allowed at my house!! LOL!!

Verve week 3- used first pic with blacks/grays with a touch of green. Here's my card...

I liked this card {not always pleased with what I make, KWIM??} Used  some new SEI dp called Moonrise.. has a lot of these colors and some orange. The sentiment panel {per the correct sketch} is supposed to be square, but, loved this circle instead. Sentiment is from Verve's Forever in Our Hearts and the circle image is from Verve's Just For You. Used retired SU ribbon and new antique brads. Added some rhinestones on the outer circle.

Verve Week 4....
Struggled with this card. Chose the first pic {inspiration is crinkly seam binding ribbon from Prairie Bird Boutique on Etsy- wonderful colors and great prices. Used some ribbon directly from the source. Chose the first set of ribbon- turquoise, rust, and dark gray/black?? This card I wasn't as pleased with. Like the layout {Julee's} and the colors. Here's the card....
Love that crinkly ribbon but, it isn't balanced or adjusted right...etc. etc. {I really, really could critique this card!! LOL!!}

Had fun though and that's what really counts- enjoying creating and trying!!

TCP Tuesday 135 and #2 post today!!

Yikes... been crazy busy!! For the TCP Tuesday challenge from last week. It was an inspiration pic of a chair. DP works and with the new TCP stamps reminded me of bells!! Still exploring the copics coloring skills.... trying, trying!! LOL!! Stamped the image with memento tuxedo black onto an oval nestie, colored with copics, and popped with Jody's foam dots {great deal here and sticky tape in circles, shapes etc. LOVE this stuff!!} Added snowflakes, and used the new TCP apron die- isn't it adorable??? A little Jingle Bells for the sentiment and jingle bells on the snowflakes {used Jen's SFYTT for the layout and those bells aren't exactly where they are supposed to be, but, I like them there!!

Sketch and inspiration pic....

This week for the My Favorite Things weekly stamp club challenge we were to focus on being "Thankful". Even though I get tired of work- I am thankful I have a job as so many are looking. Thankful for health, family, and friends!!

Used a MFT die-namic/stamp set combo to make this card. The sentiment was stamped on the die-namic and popped on top of a doily that was sponged. OA pattern paper was "wonky" stitched around the outside. Added some large scallops with the MFT large scallop die, ribbon, and a couple trinket pins. Had to resort to my lightbox-- {time change KWIM??}

Here's the card...

The Cats Pajamas...times two!!

Couple of cards that I finally finished for the TCP weekly challenges. The first card was for TCP 132 a few weeks ago and used Jen's SFYTT. Challenge was to use pink, orange, and red. Added a little gray. Image is adorable--my daughter and her fiance/kids ski so when I saw this image--had to have it. The image was stamped in memento tuxedo black, cut out, and colored with copics. Used Verve's bountiful backgrounds on the pink panels- stamped in versamark and heat embossed with white. See that gorgeous snowflake-- it's a new die being released by TCP tomorrow {found it at my LSS a couple weeks ago}. Cut 3 snowflakes in red, vanilla, and orange- layered and added a button with TCP divine twine. Isn't the sentiment wonderful??

Next card combines two TCP challenges...133 "Girl's Rule" and 134 which was a sketch by Alma. Picked up this image at the LSS also, Used my mitten weather dp. Stamped the image in memento tuxedo black and colored with copics. Now, took a class from Suzanne Dean and she did state it takes about 6 months of practice--I might need 12!!! LOL. Added ribbon with buttons threaded with TCP thread.

Here's the sketch

Stacey's Curtain Call and MOJO 164

Haven't posted much lately.... computer acting up and trying to keep up with life {SIL coming to Thanksgiving Dinner with a guest "we didn't know she was dating"-- coming from Indiana no less, dishwasher went out {it's been a long time since I had to come home from work everynight and wash dishes-honestly it doesn't take that long} and DH installing a new one tonight, second daughter to the doctor, first daughter focused on wedding!! Sensory overload--KWIM!!

This card is for Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge to use chocolate chip, so saffron, pear pizzazz, whisper white, and peach parfait!! Only had the new in colors in ribbon so had to find a way to make it work!! Used the MOJO 164 sketch from a week ago. I find myself pulling the colors and laying them together and then starting... used an old SU background stamp "Sanded" but, I think on this card it added the right touch. Used some Prima flowers that matched the "in color" colors, scored the white background, used a cuttlebug die that I found on sale a year ago, layered all, and added a flag sentiment from Verve's Many Blessings set.

The colors and sketch....

Guess Who's Coming to Dinner.... Thanksgiving Dinner??!!

Interesting.... only because, I have been so busy {invited to a formal attire retirement dinner in two weeks- had to find something to wear} and working on wedding plans for my oldest daughter {yes, we are dealing with things 1 year ahead of time} and then, my DH says, "did you see the card my sister sent?" Card said "See you for Thanksgiving Dinner. Bringing a guest. He eats a lot." My SIL lives in Indiana and we live in North Carolina-- no biggie but, do need to know who's coming {to accommodate them- when they are arriving/leaving etc., food, just those essentials!! LOL} Anywhoo, DH is mandated to get the scoop so plans can be made--- used to "flying by the seat of my pants" , thank goodness, huh!!??

Actually, have a card. For the second week of the weekly Verve challenges on SCS- I have been in a "tizzy" over this sketch and avoided it for a while. Used the second inspiration pic and focused on the colors of green, burgandy/red, black, and tan/vanilla.

Used the new release Verve winter stamps- so many are gorgeous and so versatile with the other sets Julee has created. Card is pretty straightforward {and I survived those 2 ovals}!!

No time to add inspiration pic and sketch. Sorry!!

TFL!! Thanks for stopping by!!

Cooking for MFT!!

First of all- I have to say it is wonderful to have a computer up and running quickly again!! Cyberdefender corrected the issues!!!

My Favorite Things {MFT} weekly stamp club challenge.... this week is anything related to "cooking". Chose the new Al La Mode "What's Cooking?" Actually, I think several of us did!! Stamped the image on cryogen ivory paper and colored with copics and cut out with an oval nesties. Used a brown paper bag that had ties at the top but, cut that area off since I wanted to add ribbon/twill there. Ran the bag through my big shot with the Quikutz polka dot embossing folder. Used OA Fly a Kite dp for the layers on the front over a vanilla panel~~ added a little stitching {starting to get acquainted with the old sewing machine!! LOL}. Sentiment is stamped on a rectangle deckles nestie and layered over a chocolate chip rectangle.

The gifty....

MOJO is on Vacation!!

Not only, is my MOJO taking a little vaca but, my Cyberdefender is getting on my "nerves"!! In a "little" mood aren't I??!! LOL!!

Struggled with this card and it is not what I had envisioned but, here it is. The elements I used did make me smile though!! Stamped the flower from Verve's Big Dream {3 sizes} in chocolate chip, real red, and tangerine tango and layered/popped on top of each other... smile!! Used my lacey circle nesties in black for the background... made me smile!! Used a TCP die that I got on my copic trip to Greensboro that is being released at The Cats Pajamas on November 23... also, made me smile!! Dots Quikutz embossing folder on the chocolate chip background... another smile!! Used Jen's SFYTT for the sketch and really struggled with the top and finally went with a nesties die almost totally cut off in tangerine tango and white {for a little contrast} and added SU ribbon in a simple bow on top. Stacey's Curtain Call Colors from last weekend {yeah, yeah, just catching up-- computer was doing its' own thing!! Struggled a little with these colors, too... the a card

Feliz Navidad!!

Survived my trek to Greensboro for the copics class. Up at 06:30 am, out the door at 07:15 am and home by 5:00pm!! Learned a lot but, let's just hope it registered and I practice and it works!! The LSS that the class was held at had LOTS of stuff. Packed to the gills with lots of stamping treasures!! There was a sample of the monthly project that is posted on The Cats Pajamas website, absolutely adorable IRL ~ adorable on the blog too!! {as well, they had 2 of the new cut ups that are being released later this month ~ snatched them right up!!}

Enough of that. Here's my card for MOJO163. I used Glad Tidings from Verve's latest release. The snowflakes in this release are gorgeous!! Julee details her images to perfection!!!! I used the smallest snowflake and stamped in cherry cobbler and chocolate chip onto the white panel. Added some clear rhinestones to the centers. Used the new sweet scallop tag die for the top {cut out and then cut to size for the vertical panel}. The paper is from Echo Park Wintertime and has a shade of blue in it. Added MFT ribbon.

Haven't had much time to stamp recently but, I was able to finish a card. WhooHoo!! Card withdrawal.... don't act like you don't understand... I KNOW you do, LOL!! Used Stacey's Curtain Call Colors {cajun craze, more mustard, pumpkin pie, very vanilla}.... wondered about these when I first saw them as they are so close together but, honestly it's a wonderful combination!! Used the FTL sketch #112 {sentiment not in upper right hand corner but, by the image...hope that's okay!!}

Exciting news to me... I signed up for a copics coloring class- this Saturday in Greensboro, NC. Suzanne J. Dean is teaching-just a jaunt 1 1/2 hours each way!!! One of my goals from a year ago {New Years!!} was to take a copic class. Up EARLY on Sat. am to leave by 7:15... right now, I'm thinking YIKES for a Sat. am!! I am excited though as I really, really need help!

Enough of that... here's the colors

Used SU's sizzlets leaves with cajun craze, burlap is a scavenge hunt-- wanted some natural fibers and found a kit I had hanging around {actually meant to buy some burlap but, no time--ain't got no time...} Linen thread from The Cat's Pajamas and wooden button from My Favorite Things!!

Used my new nesties labels 14, vanilla with Plain Jane Psalm 3:3 from Verve {taking you to the whole shebang!!}and cut two more in different colors from the same size nestie and layered. Added the silver trim from Websters Pages {a little glam} on top of MFT's ribbon, some sponging on the smallest nestie... not great at this but, working on it slowly!! LOL!!

Close up of the ribbon... and, yes that's netting from Websters Pages also.

A Little Halloween.... and A Little Flowers

Stacey's Colors and Jen's sketch... X 2!! When I first looked at the colors, I thought flowers and I thought Halloween. So, I made two cards with the colors and Jen's sketch...you guessed it... one HALLOWEEN and one with FLOWERS!!

We've been busy at my house, helping my older daughter get ready to move... and it's moving dayssss!! Haven't even carved pumpkins yet, but... Halloween isn't until Sunday and the pumpkins will be carved tomorrow night {cause I said!!}- ever pulled that trump card?? {being the mom, you know!! LOL}

The colors {daffodil delight, basic gray, black, white, pumpkin pie} and sketch....

HALLOWEEN...

The first card uses the MFT tree die-namics with a little daffodil delight moon embossed with swiss dots, large scallop square  and circle nesties, Verve pumpkins glossed with crystal effects and Verve sentiment. Added buttons tied with divine twine, some ribbon, and embossed the background panel with a Sizzix folder.

FLOWERS....

Some of my fav flowers -- image from Verve's Great Friends. Used Basic Gray Basics White dp for the background, cut two white nesties in the same shape, stamped the flower 3 times on watercolor paper and watercolored with basic gray, pumpkin pie, and daffodil delight-- popped them all on top of each other. Used MFT's open scallop border die-namic on top of a strip of black, added gray ribbon {Becca Feeken's tutorial-I need to adapt to a leftie!!}, clear shimmer mist all over the flowers, silver pearls, and a little tag from SU's tiny tags!!

Tomorrow... 8 am sharp back to moving--- along the way I think we will "find" some pumpkins!!

TFL!! Hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend!!

Casing a "Dirty" Verve Diva!!

Week 3 of the Verve weekly challenges was to case Jackie Pedro who was inducted into the Dirty Dozen this month!! A year ago when I started participating in the Verve challenges, for one of the release week challenges, we had to case a Diva.... made me nervous!! When this came up, I thought, okay.... as long as you don't deviate toooo much~~ you have it made KWIM???

Changed the sentiment and paper. Kept to the same layout. Xmas is coming so... Xmas card it was!! NO stitching {still coming to terms with the sewing issues}.  Isn't Jackie's layout adorable!!!

Here's my card--

Notice the different fonts on the sentiment.... one of Julee's trademarks--LOVE IT!!

Merry!!

Off on a Monday...unusual for me but, Saturday was a seminar!! Actually, had to present. I know lots of you are okay with that but, it is not something I normally do and the last time was several years ago-- had a "minor" panic attack!! It's one thing to sit around a table and talk and quite another to stand up behind a podium!! I survived with no anxiety so, maybe I'm a grown up now LOL!!

Today I have a gift bag. MFT's weekly stamp club challenge this week was to make a gift bag. Christmas is coming and I usually make a few of these. Used one of the adorable PI's "Merry Kissmas". Stamped with memento tuxedo black, paper pieced the scarfs, colored with copics, and glittered the snowman or is that snowgirl?? Layered on  a large scallop nestie. The background paper is Tinsel & Twig {love this stuff}, added a lower border with the open scallop die-namic and some black pearls. Finally used my banner die-namic {tease Jody aka texasjodylynn on SCS} about suggesting that having several of these is great!! I gotta admit it would have been wonderful to have more than one. Added divine twine along the top and some ribbon on the handle. Here's the bag....

A couple of close ups of the image and banner...

Thanks for looking!! Love when you stop by and leave comments!!
