Verve Get Your Diva On!!!

Okay... a while back I got the Verve Diva Dare and Get Your Diva On titles just a "smidgen" reversed!! Knew the challenge I was participating in but, got the names wrong.... early Alzheimer's you ask?? No, not yet!!

Now, it is time for the Verve Get Your Diva On challenge. Technical information here. This month Amber is hosting and she gave us a recipe challenge- recipe determined by the first letter of your first name. Here it is..

I have done one other recipe challenge and I have to say... it is a challenge for me!! I lay everything out and then, have this desire to add or change something. As well, my recipe {V for Vickie} gave me cardstock colors of turqoise, blue, and cream. Not only did I not have any dp (I fibbed, I found one similar dp after I made the cards)- I don't use a lot of blues but, when I do it is usually mixed with other colors. Definitely a challenge for me. Amber gave us an option to "switch" one category with one of the others and I seriously thought about it but, decided I wanted to see if I could make a card within my recipe.

My recipe:
  • ribbon, buttons, rhinestones
  • cream, turqoise, blue
  • 4 layers or any other shape
My card...

Stamped the largest and medium flowers/stems/leaves from Verve's Many Blessings twice on vanilla and colored with copics. Cut out one set and popped on top of the original. Leaves were adhered at the bottom and pulled out to give some dimension. Added some buttons to the center of the flowers. Cream background is embossed witha SU embossing folder. Added turqoise ribbon and lace with a sunburst rhinestone on top.

After I finished... started thinking {stinkin' thinkin'} and wondered if my sentiment panel would count as a layer {I think NOT personally} and I added the lace!!

So, I made another card trying to be "truer" {don't really think that's a word} to my recipe.

For this one I used the flowers from Verve's Kind Words and sentiment from Wordy Birds {stamped on a Verve vintage oval die that was spritzed with smooch}. Added rhinestones to the flower centers, some crinkly ribbon and a button. Background is embossed with a SU texture impression plate and spritzed with smooch.

Little harder to take pics with a cream on white background... we'll see how it turns out when I post.

TFL!! Hope you're had a wonderful weekend!! I just got back from a short trip to celebrate a momentous {40th} B-day with a friend!! Had a great time!!

If you stop by, leave a comment, love to hear from you and appreciate all your sweet comments!!

I really love these! The blue and white looks so crisp and clean, and the flowers on the first card have so much dimension, love them!

These are GORGEOUS Vickie! I LOVE blue, and that blue on the first card is so striking and lovely! It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend! :D

Both cards are fabby, Vickie...I think a little "fudging" has been going on here and there so I don't think Amber's going to get too out of shape worrying about it! I adore the vibrant blues on the first card...WOW...those flowers are shocking blue (in a good way!). The second card is more subtle but has just as dramatic an impact as the first! I think you've proved that you can follow a recipe! Now onto the kitchen...
Haha...I won't even take my own advice...
