Viva La Verve... Week 2 and 4

Trying to catch up on the Verve weekly challenges in the SCS forum. Week 3 is laid out and Week 5 is a "thought in my head"!! LOL!!

Week 2 is a sketch by Charmaine... this has been done for a while but, other Life issues have intruded on my posting. Used Memory Box Minuet papers {these are adorable}, nesties, doily, pearls, SU gray satin ribbon and Verve's oval die {cuts and embosses... perfect for lots of Julee's sentiments!!}. Added some flowers from Wild Orchid Crafts.

Would love to show you the sketch but, blogger and I haven't been getting along well. I'm having to switch from old blogger editor to new blogger editor depending on which one is on the outs!! Other suggestions for blogging platforms are welcome!!

Week 4... my small brain cells were having a time trying to come to grips with square and round corners on this one but, I managed to make something.

TFL!!
Love when you stop by and leave comments. Hope you're having a wonderful "hump" day!!

Seize the Cupcake.... in a Moxie Fab Vervey Kinda Way!!

Long title!! This week's Tuesday Trigger, in the Moxie Fab World, is bright green polka dot cupcake holders with an orange and yellow background!! Talking bright here!! When I saw the inspiration pic I immediately thought of the Verve set "Carpe Cupcake" {which I adore and haven't used... it is possible to have stamps you adore and haven't used... KWIM!!} Perfect and perfect sentiment. Stamped the cupcakes in memento tuxedo black onto white using masking. Since I didn't have any green with white polka dot dp... made my own. Used Verve's Bountiful Backgrounds with Versamark on green paper and heat embossed with white. Three vertical layers of those bright colors with a little divine twine from The Cats Pajamas and a two button/twine combo. Liquid applique for the frosting {prob' not used much anymore but, I liked the effect}.

Here's the inspiration

Here's my card.... Seize the Cupcake!!

How fun is that!!

TFL!! Stop by, leave a comment, enjoy reading them!!

Hope you're having a great day!! Mine's better than yesterday... high winds... old tree.... no entrance to our part of the neighborhood {cul de sac both sides}... our tree.... only took 4 people an hour and a half and 2 chainsaws.... but, we had the entrance open!! And... my sweet DH gets a new chainsaw... how happy is he!!??

Waltzing Mouse Sketch...

This week Waltzing Mouse has a sketch with banners. You have until Thursday night at 11:59 to post. I have had these banner dies and have seen many cards that I adore using them so, this was the push to get them out. Stamped an image from Vintage Labels No. 10 {nestie compatible} onto vanilla using basic gray ink, folded in half and added to the corner. Sentiment is Verve... Love Story. Background is a flourish from Vintage Labels No. 10 that was stamped in Versamark onto going gray CS and heat embossed with clear. Added a pearl flourish from Zva and a pearl from Kaiser craft on the WMS outline. Some prima roses, silver thread, and of course--the banner!!

The sketch....

Two posts for me today.... no posts for a while and then I'm stampin!! The Tuesday Trigger this week is buttons and linen, gray and vanilla!! Added a little more color to mine. Used a Sizzex embossing folder for the background on vanilla, a bunch of springy buttons, some butterflies and a Verve sentiment that goes perfectly {IMHO anyway} "Hugs and Smiles"!!

Focused on the buttons and linen {hence, embossing folder}. If you've never been to the Moxie Fab World website, you need to check it out... inspiration "out the wazoo" and wonderful pics!!

Verve Get Your Diva On!!!

Back to stamping and blogging....{sigh, feels good}!! This card is for Verve's monthly Diva challenge on SCS, you can get all the deets here. You have until 9pm Mountain Time tonight to submit. Anyway, I started on a card using grays, vanillas and thinking pink or coral and just couldn't finish it. So, last night I started again. This time I went with my fav color {red} and black/white combo. I used the watercolor re-inker technique, stamping the outline flowers from Verve's Great Friends using all three {the smallest twice} onto watercolor paper with memento tuxedo black and heat embossed with clear. Misted all the flowers and added some ink with a watercolor brush to the inside {it just spreads when you do this}. Layered all the flowers and added stickles to the outer leaves {not sure I didn't use too much?}, pearls in the center to finish off. The black background was stamped with the leaves from this set in versamark and heat embossed with clear. The gorgeous lace is from Wild Orchid Crafts {honestly you need to check out this website, gorgeous lace, flowers and more}. Crinkled white seam binding and Jenni Bowlin pins... ta da!!

Lots of clouds today so it was hard to get a good pic.

Here's a closer look at the flower, seam binding, stickpin combo..

And... I finished off the inside using some ribbon, the smallest outline flower, and a sentiment from Verve's Love Story. Spring is the time for Weddings!!

TFL!! Hope your having a great Sunday!!

Friend...

Feels like I have been gone for...."eons"!! Quick trip to MD last weekend and busy at work threw me off a little. Not sure the MOJO even exists anymore...!! The WaltzingMouse sketch challenge this week is round. Use some dp from 7 Gypsies {Lillie} and not quite navy from SU {I know it looks black in this pic--need a new camera but, paying for a wedding, LOL!!}, some crumbcake with sewing. Nestie stamped with WMS Holiday Label No. 14 and sentiment from Verve. Circle and blossom nesties for the background and stitched the crumbcake, added a little ribbon SU and a K & Co stickpin flower with clear rhinestone.
The sketch...

Felt good to finally be stamping a little again. I know I'm not the only one that goes through withdrawals, LOL!! Gorgeous day today... 80's... met my youngest for her dinner break... "top down" on the convertible and enjoying the sunshine!! Happy Spring!!! {starts tomorrow, technically}

My blogging friend Wanda started on a new design team "For Your Inspiration" and WOW... the the first inspiration pic is awesome!!! It is a twice weekly challenge and this is the first one. Now, when you see the pic, it could seem a little intimidating, hard to believe someone imagined and executed a building like this!!

Here's the inspiration....

Can you believe this exists... it is the Dubai Towers... haven't checked this out on the web to learn more but, need to, the pic is amazing!! I focused on the tall towers-- "tall flowers" came to mind and used a SU set that has been getting a little dusty but, I think fits perfectly. Inspired by Nature.. blades of grass and those gorgeous flowers.... so bold like this pic. Added some glitter to the centers for the light relfecting off the towers.

My card...

Stamped the leaves in basic gray and then, colored the flower stamp image with markers in regal rose and basic gray, leaves in going gray- stamped onto Basic Gray Basics White paper. Stamped two of the flowers again and cut out and popped on top. Added some glitter on the flower centers with ribbon and lace and an antique SU brad on the bottom. The sentiment "Live With Passion" is one of my favs and seemed like it fit the pic.... any architect that dreams of and executes buildings like that has passion { and maybe some Dubai dollars to spend}!!!

TFL!!

Ingredients
Stamps: SU Inspired by Nature
Paper: BG Bsics White, white, gray
Ink: basic gray, regal rose, going gray
Accessories: SU ribbon, lace, SU glitter, pop dots, SU antique brad

Tuesday Trigger mixed with Jen's SFYTT

This card uses the inspiration pic from Moxie Fab World's Tuesday Trigger.... OMG... it screams spring with yummy colors and flowers on an old chair!! Love the colors and I certainly love antiques, so I couldn't resist. Used Jen's March sketch, and you may notice the main panel is not "skewed" like it should be... well, I could have certainly skewed it and I wish I could tell you a perfectly good creative, imaginative reason why I did not but, the truth is I forgot. Started working on the card, laid to the side in case I wanted to add or do anything else and decided today I like it the way it was. Well, that dang panel was not lying there skewed so, here it is

I used a mask by Valerie Foster for Prima Marketing and laid it over some ledger dp, sprayed with Tattered Angels Bahama Blue glitter mist- love the effect. Added a Prima Rose with glass glitter. Quick and easy card but, I love the results.

Here is the inspiration pic and sketch....

TFL!! Hope you're having a wonderful Friday. We're off on a "road trip" tomorrow, with a couple friends, to Maryland to visit my girls dance teacher who became ill and went to live with her daughter. Quick trip... driving up Sat. and back Sun. {6 1/2 hours each way} but, will enjoy seeing her!!
Ingredients
Stamps: None
Paper: Crate Paper Restoration, Crumbcake
Ink: Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist- Bahama Blue
Accessories: Prima rose with glass glitter

Hello!!

Okay... I think I can post images again, not through the new blogger but, using the old blogger editor. Little bit different and little bit less options but, I think it will work. (Button issues on the new.) Instead of a sketch or color challenge... I have had a blogger challenge!! LOL!! Few more steps, cursor does it's own jumping but, hey, I conquered the dang program!! Keep having to save and re-enter to fix... instead of a few minutes... it becomes an hour long project.

Anyway, I made this card using the Waltzingmouse sketch challenge. I don't have any WMS images but, I love their nestie compatible stamps, check them out here. Wonderful backgrounds and designs. The sketch this week is square with layers.

And here's my card...

Pretty CAS with this card but, I like it. Used an image from WMS vintage labels 1 on the not quite navy and vanilla nesties. One is dots in several layers (doesn't show them all) and the vanilla is stamped in so saffron and is a checkered pattern with an outline. The last layer is stamped with WMS Vintage Circles small (love this outline) with a Verve Sentiment from Happy Hello. Added some red polka dot ribbon from SU.

TFL!!

Cross your fingers for me (that this worked)!!

You Make Me Smile!!

Wow... two posts in one day, quite different for me. I worked on this card for the Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World and realized it has to be up today!! This is about as CAS as I get but, I did enjoy making it. Here's the inspiration...

This pic "screams" spring to me!! All the bright colors {yellow, black, white} with the gorgeous pink flowers. Used Verve's Blue Skies butterflies and stamped in memento tuxedo black onto yellow polka dotted dp and cut out. Popped on the top of the card with foam and added pink rhinestones. A couple of layers of paper and a simple knotted black ribbon. Sentiment is also from Verve's Blue Skies- "You Make Me Smile" just like this photo!!

TFL!! Stamping a little 'cause it's raining!!

Ingredients
Stamps: Verve Blue Skies
Paper: dp, white, black
Ink: black
Accessories: rhinestones, foam dots, ribbon

I'll Never Forget You

For this week's My Favorite Things sketch on SCS. MFT is releasing the PI's in a year of flowers. This is Carnation/January. Don't you love that great big carnation!!! She was stmped in dark brown, colored with copics, and cut out and layered on a deckled oval nestie. Stitched around the nestie in kraft--Jody Morrow does this stitiching all the time {first time I have accomplished it} and I used her advice.... go slowly, one stitch at a time!!! It worked but, you have to have time and patience. Jody also sells sticky stuff (red sticky dots in a couple sizes, foam dots in brown and white-great prices and great service}. DP is Basic Gray's Green at Heart and ribbon is seam binding from SU always artichoke.

Here's the card....

The bow was supposed to be on the right but, as you can see I had to switch it!!

TFL!! Love when you stop by, leave a comment if you have time, always enjoy reading them!!

Ingredients
Stamps: My Favorite Things PI Carnation
Paper: white, kraft, BG Green at Heart
Ink: brown, copics

Dream Big

Stacey's Curtain Call Color Challenge this week is More Mustard, So Saffron, Cherry Cobbler, and Crumbcake. These colors are scrumptious together!! Have tried tackling the flowers from Verve's Dream Big set {fussy cutting} and have not been pleased in the past. This time I didn't do "tooo bad". Stamped three from large to small in cherry cobbler, crumbcake, and so saffron and heat embossed with clear {makes the color richer} and layered with a button and twine on top. DP is from Cosmo Cricket's Circa 1934 and is a perfect match to more mustard. Added some saffron ribbon that I pleated and sewed and Prima lace in crumbcake. Sentiment was stamped in cherry cobbler and heat embossed with clear {again, to get the richer color}.

Here's the card and inspiration pic...

Yesterday at work, I made an "executive decision" to take today off. Was hoping to stamp a lot but, didn't work out. Although, I did get some stamping time last night and I did get my hair colored {hiding those grays is always a good thing!!!}. Went to lunch with my youngest after some house chores and, all in all, it has been a good day!!

TFL!! Hope you're having a wonderful Friday... TGIF!!
